MANUSIA PRA-SRIWIJAYA DARI PANTAI TIMUR SUMATRA

Abstract
Ekskavasi Situs Purwo Agung yang berlokasi di pantai timur Sumatra memberikan data baru berupa sisa-sisa elemen rangka dan gigi-geligi manusia dalam konteks kubur. Penemuan tersebut sangat penting karena profil demografi dan aspek biokultural dari manusia Pra-Sriwijaya di area rawa pasang surut tersebut belum pernah terungkap sebelumnya. Kajian bioarkeologi pada temuan manusia dari situs ini berhasil mengungkap adanya dua individu dewasa dengan afinitas dari populasi Monggolid. Dijumpai pula jejak penyakit berupa lesi karies yang mencerminkan diet dari masyarakat Pra-Sriwijaya masa lalu. Kehadiran individu dewasa lanjut menjadi bukti bahwasannya kawasan rawa pasang-surut di Sumatra mampu menyokong kehidupan manusia Pra-Sriwijaya hingga usia lanjut. Kajian ini sekaligus memperkuat pendapat sejarah hunian manusia di pantai timur Sumatra telah berlangsung lama, setidaknya sejak periode Pra-Sriwijaya berlangsung.
